Workshop: Coasters

This is a private workshop. Open for all levels of experience and beginners encouraged.

Class will be October 28, 2022 starting at 6pm.

Come ready to get your hands in clay.

Drink coaster workshop is a 2-hour class for all levels of experience.  Play with two decoration techniques: Mishima and water etching with wax resist. Keep for yourself or as a gift for someone special.

Dry clay coasters are provided. Water etching: We’ll paint on wax resist in a pattern and use water to wipe away a bit of clay to leave you with a lovely raised surface design. Create patterns, make dots, paisleys, try a mandala. Mishima: We’ll cover the surface with wax and let it dry then carve lines into the wax. The lines can be filled with black or colored underglaze and multiple colors could be used.

Pieces will be left with me to dry, bisque fire, and glaze and will be ready within 3 weeks of class date.

Clay, equipment, firing, glazes and magnet/photo hardware are all included in the price of this workshop.

Entry to the studio is via a standard size door with a 5 inch step.
