Workshop: Mug and Plate

Mug and Plate workshop is a 3 hour class for all levels of experience. Class will be October 15, 2023 from noon-3pm. After the initial class, we will set date/time for work to be glazed at the studio. Details will be emailed to participants 5 days before the class.

Make a mug and plate big enough for breakfast or a snack. Keep for yourself or as a gift for someone special.

You’ll learn basic hand building techniques including rolling slabs, texturing, cutting clay, making joins, forming and joining a handle, and finishing. Pieces will be left with me to dry and bisque fire. Then you will return to the studio for a lesson on waxing, glazing, and finishing pieces. Finished work will be ready within 3 weeks of class date.

Clay, equipment, firing and glazing are all included in the price of this workshop.

Pieces will be dishwasher and microwave safe.

Entry to the studio is via a standard size door with a 5 inch step.

Class will be October 15, 2023 from 12-3.

Come ready to get your hands in clay.

Spend 3 hours in the studio and leave with the satisfaction of making items you will love.

Make a mug with a handle and a plate big enough for your toast or some cookies. Learn to make slabs, handle and texture clay, cut and form clay onto a plate mold, form cylinders, successfully join pieces of clay, make a handle and attach it well, and finally finish the piece for smooth rims and clean lines! Items will be left with me to dry carefully and bisque fire.

We will set a time for you to return to the studio and glaze your pieces before they are glaze fired. Work will be ready for pickup within 3 weeks from the class date.

Make functional pieces of pottery that you can use every day or as a gift for someone special. Pieces will be dishwasher and microwave safe.

A minimum of 4 participants is required for the class.
